And, every equation has an answer, which means that no matter what you suffer from we can uncover the underlying root cause imbalances. Last summer I traded the chaos of the city for 10 days at a relative’s beach house. It was paradise--until I noticed my two cats looked like they were crying, their eyes watery and glossy. I thought maybe there was some toxic cleaning residue on the floors, as this relative hasn't yet fully embraced nontoxic living. Then I started to get a runny nose and teary eyes and thought we must all be allergic to something. But by the end of our time there, one of my cats had congested sounding breathing, and I was wiping their eyes, and my nose, all day. My relaxing getaway turned into an unexpected mystery.
Today is Alzheimer’s Prevention Day. I’ve decided to talk about this disease and share what I’ve learned through personal experience, and teachings from my mentor, Dr Cabral, and other sources. I’m dedicating this newsletter to my oldest brother, Ron, who I lost in 2020 to Covid, but who also had an underlying condition of late stage Alzheimer’s.
We often hear about keeping our blood sugar balanced, avoiding spikes and dips to keep our energy consistent, but there’s a whole lot more to it than that. Blood sugar levels affect sleep, can elevate your heart rate, mess with your hormones (increases estrogen and lowers testosterone), affect your mood, and your ability to gain or lose weight.
When life speeds up, remember to slow down. The Autumn season is one of the busiest, and perhaps the only, time of the year that our actions often go against the natural rhythms of our bodies. While the diminishing sunlight and colder air is telling us to slow down and rest, our society and lifestyles force us speed up in the push to winter - which is extra tiring to say the least!
With the Summer Solstice approaching on the 21st, marking the longest day of the year, we have our official transition into summer. It's also the start of Cancer season and I don't just mean the Zodiac kind, but also when we are more susceptible to skin cancer and eye diseases.
